What is Direct Primary Care (DPC)?

In the typical, insurance-based primary care clinic, providers are financially incentivized to keep you unwell and have you physically in their office as much as possible. No joke—it’s real. How is this acceptable? It’s the reason visits are mere minutes long while the provider is glued to a screen instead of looking at you. It’s not their fault, the system mandates it. That same healthcare system is begging for a new, efficient way to keep patients happy, healthy, and thriving!

Direct Primary Care (DPC) is the answer! For a flat monthly membership fee, you get unlimited access to primary care services—think preventative care, acute and chronic issues, and more! Lab work, medications, and imaging are literally a fraction of the cost (up to 95% less expensive). The convenience and savings are astonishing for individuals, families, and small businesses alike.

At Northern Pines Wellness, we are making primary care affordable and available to all. We are persistent about being the change we want to see in “The System” and are proud to be the only Direct Primary Care Clinic in the Cambridge, MN and surrounding communities specifically designed with one sole purpose in mind: your health. Exactly the way it should be, right?

So, what is Direct Primary Care? Check out this video, it explains DPC quite nicely. PA-C Kelsey Abraham is able to cover your primary care, urgent care, and other medical needs whether that is virtually or in person. At Northern Pines Wellness, we make ourselves available for our patients when they need us. It’s primary care the way it was always meant to be—focused on you!

Northern Pines Wellness Direct Primary Care FAQs

  • Can Kelsey Abraham, PA-C Be My Primary Care Provider (PCP)?

Yes, Kelsey can be your primary care provider for you and your whole family!

  • Do You Accept Insurance?

You can have any insurance that you prefer. The only thing is that we do not bill your insurance at all. That means we have the freedom to sit and truly work with you on your health goals. Health insurance adds headaches for patients and practices alike. By cutting out the middlemen, we are able to keep fees low while providing exceptional care. We always recommend having some type of insurance coverage for specialists or emergencies, but we do not need it here at Northern Pines Wellness.

  • What Does My Monthly Membership Include?

    • Unlimited access to your provider (phone, video, text, and email)
    • Same-Day & Next-Day Appointmnents

*Additional fees may apply for labs, medications, or devices.

  • Can I Become A Member If I Am On Medicare?

While we would love to welcome you aboard, Medicare has strict legal regulations stating that a provider (who is automatically "opted-in" to Medicare) must bill Medicare for any Medicare covered services. It is therefore illegal for a provider who has not "opted-out" to charge a monthly membership fee to a patient who has Medicare insurance.

If you are on Medicare and are interested in becoming a member, please send us an email at office@northernpineswellness.com to be placed on our waiting list.

  • What If I’m Healthy & Rarely Need to See My Provider?

Well , that's the goal, so nice work! We aim to keep you healthy and prevent illness. Sometimes, however, you need to be seen for an acute issue (example: a urinary tract infection) or have a quick question for your provider. An urgent care visit for your symptoms will cost you about what our annual membership costs. As a member, just call/text email us. Yes, it's that easy and convenient!

  • Do You Carry Immunizations In Your Office?

At this time, no we do not. Being a cash-based practice, and offering vaccines at a cash rate, would be costly for the patient. If you are interested in receiving a vaccine or have questions related to vaccines, we can help answer those questions and guide you on where you can receive them.

  • Do You Accept Walk-In Visits?

We do not encourage walk-in visits as we pride ourselves in offering no wait times for patients. If you need an appointment but do not see a time slot available, we recommend contacting us and we will likely be able to fit you in for a same-day appointment.
